Dirk Schneider

Dirk Schneider is a music journalist and broadcaster from Hamburg, Germany. He has been editor of music programme „Tonart“ at Deutschlandfunk Kultur, Germany’s nationwide broadcasting public radio. „Tonart“ broadcasts three daily hours of music journalism as well as a daily night programme.

Today Dirk works as producer and host of „Tonart“ and is writing about pop music for nationwide left-wing newspaper taz – die tageszeitung. As a freelancer he also works and writes for other public radio stations like Deutschlandfunk and SWR2.

Dirk has studied Philosophy in Frankfurt, Berlin and Hamburg and has worked in different positions for radio stations. He has been teaching music journalism at Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hannover.

He has also worked for more than ten years as a playwright for German theaters like Thalia Theater in Hamburg and Deutsches Theater in Berlin.
