Rob Garza is a groundbreaking artist, producer, and entrepreneur best known as one half of *Thievery Corporation*, the globally acclaimed duo that helped define the sound of modern downtempo and electronic fusion. For over 25 years, Garza has fused elements of dub, bossa nova, reggae, Indian classical, Middle Eastern instrumentation, and lounge into a borderless musical language that has influenced generations of artists and fans around the world.

What sets Garza—and *Thievery Corporation*—apart is a fiercely independent ethos. Since the beginning, the band has released all of its music through **ESL Music**, the label Garza co-founded in the mid-1990s. In an era dominated by major label machinery, Thievery Corporation built a worldwide audience entirely outside that system, relying on grassroots touring, word-of-mouth fan loyalty, and a dedication to artistic freedom. Their success—sold-out global tours, millions of albums sold, and headlining slots at festivals worldwide- stands as a testament to the viability of the independent model.

Garza is also an internationally touring DJ and remixer, known for bringing deep, eclectic, and culturally rich sets to dance floors across the globe—from Brazil to Bali, Tulum to Tokyo. His solo project, *GARZA*, expands on this vision, weaving disco, house, new wave, and analog synth textures into melodic, club-friendly productions that bridge the underground and the accessible.

Beyond music, Garza is deeply committed to global activism. For over 20 years, he has served as an ambassador for the United Nations World Food Program, traveling to conflict and crisis zones including South Sudan, Yemen, and Nepal to advocate for food security and humanitarian aid. His current focus is a documentary and collaborative album featuring Yemeni refugee musicians, a project that reflects his belief in the power of music to transcend borders and amplify unheard voices.

From his independent roots to his global impact, Rob Garza embodies a rare combination of artistic integrity, entrepreneurial spirit, and humanitarian purpose—making him a singular figure in today’s music industry.
