Niko BACKSPIN is one of the most renowned hip-hop journalists in Germany and is the owner of BACKSPIN, the oldest hip-hop media brand in Germany. The Hamburg-based media maker has been active in the hip-hop culture worldwide for more than 20 years and has built up an excellent reputation during this time. His work and influence spans a variety of artists, brands and media channels: with his platform BACKSPIN, he is present in the podcast sector as well as on YouTube, in TV reports, documentaries, stage shows and in multimedia entertainment formats. Niko BACKSPIN has done more than 2,500 interviews - his guests and network include industry giants from the music industry such as Xzibit, Sido, Samy Deluxe, Jan Delay, Nura, Casper, Bushido, Cypress Hill, Curse, Johannes Strate, Fler and Shirin David.
The Hamburg native works as a cultural consultant for many brands such as Porsche, G-Shock, New Era, Axe, o2 and Burger King and is always the credible link to hip-hop culture. Niko has not only made a name for himself in the field of media and hip-hop, but is also heavily involved in sports, gaming and charitable projects. He is a member of the advisory board of the NGO Viva con Agua, which campaigns for access to clean drinking water, and is also a sponsor of SOS Children's Villages worldwide. Niko BACKSPIN is not only a passionate sports fan, but also works in sports as a podcast host, content creator, field reporter and cultural consultant. In January 2024, Niko BACKSPIN founded together with the Serviceplan Group - Europe's largest owner-managed advertising agency - a cultural marketing agency to identify the best possible cultural fit for brands and their products. As Chief Cultural Officer and Managing Partner of Serviceplan Culture, Niko builds a meaningful bridge between the codes and values of the subculture and the various goals of brands.
