Birgit Baldauf is the creative force behind beyondasea, a tour booking agency whose eclectic roster has been pushing at the seams of the music underground since the early 2000s. Based in Vienna, Austria, beyondasea’s focus lies mainly in Eastern Europe, covering a vast and ever-growing network from Austria all the way to Czech Republic, through Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Slovakia, Russia and the Baltic states, down to Romania, and stretching into Greece and Macedonia. Birgit was instrumental in setting up early groundbreaking forays into this part of the world by acts like The National, Explosions in the Sky, Liars, and Animal Collective. Her work continues to flourish with a diverse and expansive roster which defies categorization.

The list is long and impressive, and the connective thread lies in her discerning sensibility and ongoing commitment to mapping pathways that fit the rigour and quality of the artists she works with.
