Alone at Parties

Romania

Alone at Parties’s sound is an indie blend of soft-spoken synthesizers, playful electric guitars which come together around subtle acoustic rhythms and warm & moody vocals. The band comes from Cluj-Napoca (RO) & is composed of Andrei Casiana, Dani, Florin & Lazăr.

They made their debut with a live rendition of Board Games, released in November 2021 (watch & listen here). Performed with a sparse arrangement in a minimalist post-party setting that evokes ‘70s era nostalgia, it’s a DIY effort that hinted at what was to come.

Just a month later, the release was followed by Another Car, the band’s debut single, featuring the Bucharest based artist Adame Wolf (watch & listen here). Produced over a 2 year period of back and forth creative sessions, it finally came together as a blend of synth infused soft melodies and melancholic folk. These releases were marked by a solo acoustic tour together with Adame Wolf called Have We Met? that introduced the band’s music to Romanian crowds.

Oranges & Apples, the band's second single, was released in November 2022. It talks about dealing with boredom in relationships and its video companion was filmed during early mornings & late evenings in the Danube Delta (watch & listen here).

2023 saw Alone at Parties playing their first full band shows: Electric Castle & Transilvania International Film Festival in the summer and a mini-tour in the autumn in Bucharest, Cluj & Budapest at BuSH.

In November 2023 the band released their third single - Intensive Care. Mixing soft-spoken vocals, earwormy synth leads & a playful bossa nova influence, the song draws a parallel between taking care of houseplants and nurturing healthy relationships (watch & listen here).

2024 saw the band playing shows in Budapest, Oradea, Cluj, Tg. Mures or Bucharest at the MMB Showcase.

Their September 2024 release - Infinite Wellness Center, started initially as a song about hope and a glimmer of a feeling that things would eventually fall into place, however its theme morphed gradually into a fictional wellness center that’s selling easy recipes for “happiness” (watch & listen here).

This marked their last single before the launch of their debut album Familiar Faces, released in the same month (listen here).
